Sky push Hereford game

As is usual before a game, Sky are carrying a preview to tonight's Conference clash at Edgar Street between Hereford United and Stevenage Borough.

According to Sky the match has got a bit of added spice to it as Hereford have got a score to settle as their hopes of returning to the Football League were ended last season when Stevenage beat them in the playoffs.

If there has been a whiff of revenge in the air at Hereford's impressive training ground, the Conference club are not admitting it.

Stevenage may have been the side who cruelly ended their hopes last season, but now with the play-offs looking a distinct possibility, Graham Turner is desperate to keep up the pressure on leaders Accrington.

"There are some good sides up there contending for places. We've got to make sure we're at least in there and then if Accrington do slip up by any chance we've got to be there to take advantage of it," commented Turner.

Full back Ryan Green is one of the survivors of Hereford's two-year heartbreak and he is justifiably proud of the way his side has come bouncing back for a third time.

"Two years in a row, the players were gutted. It's just been terrible but were looking to win it this year. If not, get into the playoffs," said Green.

"That's history now, we didn't play well against them. We didn't deserve to beat them. We're going quite well this season - we've gone eleven games unbeaten," Turner said.

"So we feel we can handle anybody in this league. Stevenage are no exception."

Hereford then are hoping it will be a case of third time lucky in their relentless quest for a return to the Football League.
