Lee Richardson, manager of Chesterfield football club, has told local press that he is interested in signing Neil Mackenkie, who has been released by Scunthorpe.
Mackenkie, a 6ft 1in midfielder, had a successful loan spell at Hereford United, during the winter.
"I have a eight or nine targets and I'm hoping to land five or six of them. Neil is one of those targets," said Richardson.
Mackenzie, who comes from Birmingham, began his career with Stoke and he has also played for Cambridge, Kidderminster, Blackpool, Mansfield and Macclesfield.
