Silence Is Golden For Richardson

Graham Turner's policy of silence until the ink is dry on contracts may be frustrating for fans, but another manager has admitted that he will now use the same policy.

Chesterfield's Lee Richardson, who is a comparative novice after just 12 games in charge, has admitted that his announcement to the press that he was after ex-Bulls loanee Neil MacKenzie cost him the services of the player:

"We lost him because his name was linked with a move to Saltergate through the media. I believe, thanks largely to that publicity, it alerted the other club and he ended up agreeing terms there.

"So until something is signed, sealed and delivered I will no longer me mentioning names. It is a cut-throat business at this time of the year and we are in competition with other clubs to bring in players."
