Hutchinson on trial with Bulls last night

Defender Joey Hutchinson, an ex Darlington player, came on for the Bulls last night.

Hutchinson was born at Middlesborough in April 1982 so is now 25. He started his career with the Birmingham City Academy and made his debut in a Worthington Cup game in 2000. However, although he was still under contract he was released in the summer of 2003.

He then joined Darlington and, at the time, was said to be 'solid, tough tackling and committed.' He played over 80 times for the North East club.

Unfortunately Hutchinson suffered injury problems, said to be cruciate ligament related, and was released by Darlington last New Year.

One Darlington fan posted this message about Hutchinson on the Hereford United Independent Forum:

He's only played 30 odd games since 2003/04, when he was our captain. He actually snapped his cruciate in one leg and missed the rest of the season that year, came back the following season, played a handful of matches and then snapped the cruciate in his other leg...and missed the rest of that season. Came back the following season, played a handful of games, looked rusty and kept on picking up various pulls and strains. Back on the physio table. We then released him at Christmas, to bring in players that would be fit instead, and he's been trying to regain fitness ever since.
