News Round Up

Morecambe have released senior pros Wayne Curtis and Fraser McLachlan and four youngsters after their play-off defeat. Curtis played over 300 times for the club, debuting in 1997. Bournemouth say they have a number of signings ready to unveil, but are awaiting Football League clearance as they remain under a partial embargo.

Barnet have confirmed that defender Ismail Yakubu has left the club after he was linked to a number of sides. They will not release a full retained list until a new boss is announced. Accrington say they want £250,000 for out of contract striker Bobby Grant after Scunthorpe were claimed to have signed him. Stanley say the Iron have offered 'a million miles' less than their asking price and the matter is likely to go to a tribunal.

Crewe are hoping for a six figure windfall after former striker Nicky Maynard was linked with a £4.5million move to Fulham. They hold a 20% sell-on clause. Rotherham have sold 11,000 tickets so far for their play-off final. Dagenham have sold 10,100. Southend have accepted a bid from Brentford, claimed to be £150,000, for want-away defender Simon Francis, and will benefit from any move Gary Hooper makes as they hold a sell-on clause that could be worth £350,000 according to the local press.

Canada were thumped 5-0 by Argentina last night. Of the English based players only Gillingham's Simeon Jackson played with others, including Gavin McCallum, linking up with the squad ahead of Saturday's match with Venezuela. Crewe keeper Adam Legzdins has turned down a new 12 month deal with the club as he does not want to be second choice to senior keeper Steve Phillips. He has made just eight senior appearances in two years with the club. Boss Dario Gradi has confirmed the club is interested in Peterboro defender Exodus Geohaghon.

Torquay are bucking the trend and reintroducing their reserve side for the coming season. Despite their recent financial revelations they say the move will have no significant financial impact after two organisations agreed to sponsor the side.
