Bury have loaned striker Danny Carlton to Grimsby for an initial month. The 26 year old was a regular Conference scorer in his Morecambe days, but has struggled for goals since graduating into the League. The Shakers have opened contract talks with Ryan Lowe and Michael Jones about extending their current deals. Police say they have dropped their investigation into financial irregularities at Histon with no charges being made.

Croydon Athletic have been saved after owner Mazhar Majeed surprisingly put up the bond to guarantee the club will finish the season. The club will no longer pay players or the management staff. Ilkeston's Official Receiver has ten serious offers to buy the club. The main asset on sale is their 11 year lease on their ground.

Rotherham have released former Bulls trialist Jeremiah Ani after his month long contract expired. He made just one start in the JPT, and did not feature in the League at all. The Millers are chasing Reading winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie, who has just finished a loan spell at Port Vale. Ex-Bull John Grant played 90 minutes of Southend's 1-0 reserve loss to Stevenage last night as he bids to win a contract there.

Ex-Bulls Steve Guinan and Nathaniel Wedderburn were playing subs at Anfield last night as Northampton beat Liverpool. Guinan missed his penalty in the shoot-out. Wycombe striker Jon-Paul Pittman will be out until the New Year after having surgery on a knee injury. He was injured in the warm up before their match with Macclesfield two weeks ago.

Kettering have named Morrell Maison as their caretaker manager. Maison was the catalyst behind Halesowen's recent financial problems and was investigated by the Police for fraud as well as being suspended by the FA for failing to pay fines. Stevenage are set to sign Brighton striker Chris Holroyd on a three month loan. The former Cambridge man hasn't scored in 15 games since making the move into the League in January.

Burton are trialling two Midland Alliance strikers. Coleshill's Danny Carter and Marvin Johnson of Romulus will spend the next ten days with the club. Carter has scored 14 goals so far this season including three hat-tricks. Cheltenham have loaned youngster Marley Watkins to Bath for an initial month.
