Preview: Torquay vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Plainmoor on Saturday looking for a fourth successive win.

The two sides have never had a League match outside the basement division, with the draw the most common result. Of the 57 meetings so far 24 have ended up as draws with the Bulls edging the win column by 17 to 16. Since the Gulls returned to the League the Bulls have lost only one of six games, with last season's 3-1 win at Plainmoor following up a 2-2 draw at Edgar Street.

The Gulls' bright start to the season has rapidly disappeared, with Martin Ling's side nosediving down the table in recent weeks after eight matches without a win culminated with conceding four and five goals against Southend and Gillingham. On Tuesday they reversed form with a 4-0 win over Wimbledon with striker Rene Howe scoring twice. The former Peterboro man has been hitting the headlines for his tackling as much as his goalscoring this season, being blamed by Shrewsbury fans for defender Reuben Hazell's long term absence.

The Bulls travel south in similar circumstances to last season's trip. Last term they travelled to Plainmoor on the back of three straight wins and secured a fourth as news of Jake Robinson's ineligibility for the game spread round the ground. The Bulls will travel without the suspended Harry Pell, with Rob Purdie likely to step up into his midfield spot. Ryan Green seemingly came through Tuesday's cameo unscathed after his injury problems, he is likely to retake the right back spot leaving Joe Heath to pressure Bruno Dalibard for the left back spot.

Torquay United vs Hereford United, Plainmoor, Saturday 29th October, 3.00pm.
