Keyte Reacts To Foyle's 'Massive Debt' Comment

Chairman David Keyte has reacted to manager Martin Foyle's words from his pre-match interview given to Bulls Player last Friday where he mentioned massive debts at Hereford United.

Foyle was talking about the problems of bringing in players given the tight budget he's under.

"We've got to try and get a mixture of winning on the pitch but also settling massive debts off the pitch."

Later Keyte commented:

"Martin's comments were clearly based on discussions I've had with him following the last four home attendances, which are well under-budget. Whilst we would all like to attempt to improve the playing squad we will have to balance that against the loss of income through the gate.

"Martin was quite rightly referring to our discussion, but I would describe it more as day-to-day running costs, which I would describe as substantial, but maybe not massive. As supporters know we did clear what I would term as massive debts when we settled the £1million debt that we inherited, which was owed to Richardsons Capitol.

"It is a fact that until we see a return on that settlement through ground development it has put pressure on the cashflow, which has now been exacerbated by relegation and such low attendances.

"We certainly need help from anyone who considers themselves a HUFC supporter, in whatever way they can.

"As each week passes we will struggle to pay our way on current attendances." .
