Finances Looking Better at Edgar Street

The finances are looking better at Edgar Street as the club has confirmed that the wages have been paid until the end of May.

"We have ensured that everything is up to date on the payroll front," chairman David Keyte, who is currently away on holiday, told the OS.

"My colleagues and I have been buoyed by the positive response from all over the country to the news of the Share Issue and Debenture Scheme."

Prime Pitch Patch Bidding Extended To Monday

The bidding for the prime spots of the Edgar Street pitch has been extended to Monday.

Bids on the parts of the pitch where Ronnie Radford and Ricky George scored against Newcastle, plus the two penalty spots, are now being accepted until 8pm on Monday.

Bidding currently stands at £450 for Ronnie Radford's spot, and £500 for Ricky George's. More details on the official site here.

News Round-Up

Hyde have signed midfielder Connor Hughes following his release from Oldham. The 20 year old only had a handful of sub appearances for the Latics over the past two years. Dartford say midfielder Mark Arber has turned down a new contract with the club. The former Dagenham man, 35, is reported to have been looking for a longer deal than the one offered.

Released Kidderminster man Keith Briggs has signed for Conference newcomers Halifax. Defender Bradley Wood has become Alfreton's first signing of the summer. The former Grimsby man, 21, played over 100 times for the Mariners after graduating from their youth team.

Tamworth say that Cambridge defender Jonathan Thorpe has turned down a contract offer from them in favour of going part-time and starting a university course. The Lambs are also hopeful that Lee Hendrie will reverse his retirement decision after he and manager Dale Belford had talks while the pair were part of a veteran Aston Villa side that played in the Far East last weekend.

Worcester have announced that they will continue next season, and will continue to offer their £100 season tickets to the end of June. They have registered their participation in Conf North for next season. Gateshead have signed Darlington defender Joe Tait on contract for next season. The centre back was a regular as the Quakers won promotion from the Northern Football League Division One.

Coventry's Administrator has extended the deadline for bidders for the club by a week. An Asian consortium and a bid fronted by an American tycoon are already on the table. The local press are reporting that Truro City's debt pile has been reduced from £4million to just £145,000 ahead of a meeting next week to agree a CVA. The reductions have largely come from false claims, several made by people and companies associated with bankrupt former owner Kevin Heaney.

Big John McCombe on the move

Former Bull John McCombe has parted company with Port Vale and is said to be set to join newly promoted Mansfield Town.

The central defender notched just less than 30 appearances for The Bulls in 2007/08 before a move to Port Vale following a management fall out over a penalty incident.

McCombe was a regular in Port Vale’s promotion to League 1 and made nearly forty appearances for The Valiants last season to take his tally at Vale Park to over 200.

Also on the move is Richard Rose. Dartford have announced that the former Gillingham man has accepted a contract at another club, whose identity has not yet been revealed.

Connor Departs Edgar Street

Bulls goalkeeper coach Dan Connor is the latest casualty of the cost cutting at Edgar Street.

The Irishman was both goalkeeper coach and part of the youth team setup last season, but is reported by the official site to have been made redundant as part of the changes at the club. He also had a stint running the club shop after injury curtailed his playing career.

The Bulls have appointed a new first team physio, with Johny Evans moving up from his role with the youth team to take over from Ian Rodgerson.

FA Cup Cash Boost For Bulls

The Bulls are set for an additional mini windfall from last season's FA Cup run.

The following is from Gloucester City's official site:

The Football Association has announced that the 32 non League clubs who played in the FA Cup 1st Round last season will each receive the sum of £11,313 from the FA Cup Pool.

This pool of money is derived from replays in the latter rounds of the competition, whereby clubs hosting replays from the 3rd Round onwards pay 5% of the gate receipts into the pool.

With the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea staging replays the pool share for the 2012/13 season is the best ever paid out.

The Bulls reached the Second Round in this season's competition.

Newmarket St To Reopen Tomorrow

Herefordshire Council have announced that the sewerage works on Newmarket Street are complete, and the ring road will reopen tomorrow.

The move sees the road reopen a week ahead of schedule, with the Council citing good weather as allowing the works to proceed unhindered. Businesses in the city have been reporting substantial drops in trade during the three weeks of the closure, with many outside the city opting to avoid the area.

Bowman Fee "Will Go To Tribunal"

Bulls boss Martin Foyle has told the Hereford Times that a tribunal will decide the fee for Ryan Bowman's move to York.

The striker completed his move at the weekend, with Foyle telling the paper: “It will go to a tribunal. York have offered a certain amount and have signed him on, which they are entitled to do.

“But it’s a little disappointing as it stops anyone else coming in for him.”

He also told the paper that he wasn't expecting to do any deals himself quickly: “It’s going to be quiet for a while and we just have to sit and wait. I spoke to Richard Brodie, who was with me at York, but he’s gone to Gateshead for a big wage and a signing-on fee.

“I’ve spoken to so many players but the top-10 clubs can offer 52-week contracts. It’s going to be hard building a team again but I always saw this as a three-year project and thought that the second year would be the most difficult.”

Foyle also stated that there had been interest, but no firm bids, for Sam Clucas.

News Round-Up

Conf South side Dorchester Town have slashed their playing budget for the coming season. The Magpies will have a budget of just £2,500 a week to include all players and manager Phil Simkin. Chester have agreed to sign Accrington striker Craig Lindfield when his contract expires at the end of June. The 24 year old scored twice in 33 games for Stanley this season, and had a loan spell with the old Chester club in 2008.

Stewart Day is the new chairman at Bury after he completed a takeover of the club. A statement last night says the club have settled their tax debts and PFA loans and that the club must never end up in the same position again, before stating that they want the club to get to the Championship. Ebbsfleet's takeover will be completed today, with new owners KEH promising a £100,000 transfer kitty for new manager Steve Brown.

Kidderminster have announced that midfielder Keith Briggs will leave the club. The 31 year old was in his second spell with the club, and is reported to be seeking a return north. Nuneaton say midfielders Simon Forsdick and Danny Sleath have signed new contracts with the club for the coming season.

Halifax are to offer players a chance to win a contract with the club - for a £60 fee. They will hold two days of trials at the club with the offer of a contract to the best player, but participants will have to pay the fee for a chance to impress. Torquay have launched a membership scheme for fans that cannot get to regular games or are out of work. Exiled fans can pay £50 to £75 and get matchday tickets for as little as £10, while out of work fans get membership for free and £10 tickets.

Tamworth will sign Gillingham full back Jack Evans when his contract expires at the end of June. The 20 year old made only one appearance for the Gills this season, but played 15 times for Dartford in a loan spell to the end of the season.

Jackson called up to England squad

Marlon Jackson has been called up to the England C squad for their game against Bermuda in the coming weeks. Jackson, who spent the majority of the season on the sidelines, impressed when on form with his direct running ability.

He joins Sam Clucas in the squad and recently departed Ryan Bowman.

Ex-Bulls On The Move

Two ex-Bulls have found new clubs today.

Former loanees Nicky Nicolau and Kyle Perry have dropped down a tier to join Chelmsford and Altrincham respectively.

Nicolau, 29, left Lincoln in April after apparently having an offer to play on under reduced terms declined by the Imps. He is Dean Holdsworth's first signing at Chelmsford, having played for brother David at Sincil Bank.

Perry, 27, was released by Nuneaton in April after loan spells at Edgar Street and Tamworth. He failed to score in any of his 33 appearances for the trio of sides this season, only starting nine times.

London Supporters Trust Meeting June 6th

London Bulls are to host a meeting about the planned Supporters Trust on Thursday June 6th, starting at 7pm.

The venue for the meeting is the Paddington Green Campus of the City of Westminster College, with drinks afterwards at the Green Man in Paddington. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact the group by email - bullsoflondon@gmail.com.

Shots Administrator Expects Points Deduction

Aldershot's Administrator expects the club to start the coming season with a ten point deduction.

With the Conference AGM now less than two weeks away (June 8th), under Conference rules the club are expected to settle £300,000 of football creditors in full before the following AGM, and clear the remainder of the £1million debt - also in full - by the summer of 2016.

One bookmaker has already pushed the Shots out to 100/1 for next season's Conference title, and their ongoing ability to challenge for promotion over the coming seasons will depend heavily on how much of their debt they can get written off before they have to clear 100% of their CVA.

News Round-Up

Gloucester say they will pay all debts owed to landlords Cheltenham ahead of the new season. The two clubs agreed a deal for next season in March to allow the Tigers to keep their Conf North place, but the Robins say they will block usage unless the outstanding £20,000 debts are settled. Alfreton say that Josh Law and Alastair Taylor have signed new one year deals with the club. Manager's son Law has been at the club since 2007, while 21 year old Taylor made only 13 appearances last term.

Former Wrexham winger Glen Little is considering hanging up his boots at the age of 37 as he doesn't expect many offers for his services. He has told the local press he considers his time at the club as a failure as they failed to win promotion. Grimsby joint boss Rob Scott says he doesn't expect any signings until pre-season training begins in a months time. The Mariners are looking to only add five more players to the 13 currently under contract.

Luton boss John Still says he is considering releasing long term injury victims Danny Spiller and Garry Richards. The ex-Gillingham pair haven't made an appearance between them after picking up injuries after signing two year deals last summer, and Still will wait for assessments on their fitness before coming to a decision.

Another membership scheme is to also be launched shortly involving fans who regularly get to games.

News Round-Up

Wrexham forward Adrian Cieslewicz says he will consider leaving the club despite still being under contract for next season. The 22 year old signed an extended deal in December, but is understood to be frustrated at a lack of starts since. Former Bull Janos Kovacs claims Luton are to operate this season on a reduced budget. The Hatters have lost £2million a season consistently since dropping out of the Football League.

Nuneaton chairman Ian Neale has warned that he could lose control of the club's stadium after the holding company went into voluntary liquidation. In an original statement two weeks ago Neale claimed the non-trading company was not in debt, and a transfer of the stadium to another of his companies was a formality, but in his latest interview has warned that the club would not invest further into the ground if the liquidator sold the ground to a third party.

Southend are reported to have settled their debt with the taxman that saw the club issued with their eighth winding-up proceedings in three years. Chester midfielder George Horan is reported to have rejected a lucrative offer from a Welsh Premier side to stay with the newly promoted club.

Nuneaton are to make an offer to released Northampton forward Louis Moult. The 21 year old made 17 appearances for the Boro on loan last season and would prefer to stay full time. Kidderminster have released full back Mike Williams, with the 26 year old former Wrexham man making only 12 appearances last term after two seasons as a regular.

Macclesfield midfielder Kieran Murtagh has left the club in favour of signing for League Two newcomers Mansfield. The 24 year old collected 16 bookings during his only season with the Silkmen. Chester have announced that keeper John Danby has signed a new deal with the club. The 29 year old was the first player to play for both the old and new Chester clubs.

Cambridge say that midfielder Tom Shaw has turned down a new deal with the club after being told he was not in their plans for next season. The offer was a contractual obligation of his existing contract, but new boss Richard Money doesn't want to keep him. Meanwhile full back Jonathan Thorpe is in talks over a move to Tamworth, where he ended the season on loan.

Backpass To Increases Issues

Backpass, the Kington based football magazine, is increasing the number of issues it produces.

News Round-Up

Former Bull Gary Bowyer has been named as Blackburn's permanent manager on a 12 month rolling contract. He preserved their Championship status after coming in as caretaker boss for a second time this season. Ex-Bull Gary Hooper scored twice as Celtic beat Hibs to win the Scottish FA Cup.

The farce at Coventry continues. The Administrator has set a May 31st deadline for bidders for the club, while 'owners' SISU followed that by issuing a statement saying the club is not for sale. They insist, despite the Football League's disagreement, that the football club itself is a company not in Administration and that it holds all the player registrations and rights to the Coventry City name.

Grimsby have raised prices at Blundell Park for the coming season. It will cost £18 for all areas of the ground next term, with the cheapest early-bird ticket £285. Wimbledon's fans have boosted the club's playing budget by £70,000 after pledging regular monthly sums to a 'We Are Wimbledon' fund. A club statement says their total budget will be over £1million for the first time since their inception.

Northampton chief Dennis Cardoza says the club will have to cut the playing budget after missing out on promotion, but that they will still have a 'top seven' budget next season. Aldershot's Supporters Trust has confirmed it will make a bid for the club. They are reported to be one of three interested parties to take over the club.

Halifax have signed Tranmere midfielder Danny Harrison for the coming season. The 30 year old played 13 times for the League One side last season after signing a one year deal last summer. The Conference newcomers have also transfer listed striker Gareth Seddon. The 33 year old former Bury trainee netted 12 goals in 24 Conf North games but struggled to feature regularly with the club opting to only play one striker for most of the season.

Farnborough's Administrator has called a CVA meeting for June 7th, the day before the Conference AGM. If creditors agree a CVA deal the club should be allowed to continue in Conf South next season. Grimsby's Supporters Trust is to take a place on the club's board next month after securing the £30,000 required to take a place. The club are to operate with a squad of just 18 next season with a reduced playing budget.

Bulls Linked To Keeper Puddy

Today's Non-League Paper has linked Salisbury goalkeeper Will Puddy to the Bulls.

The 25 year old former Bristol City trainee joined Salisbury 18 months ago for a second time, and has also racked up spells at Chippenham and Cheltenham.

The paper says that five clubs have shown interest, with Bristol Rovers and Wimbledon also in the hunt, with Puddy out of contract at the Conference newcomers and talks still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the paper quotes Martin Foyle on Ryan Bowman's departure: "Ryan not staying is a blow but it opens the door for someone else.

"We always knew it was going to be a busy summer for us and we know what challenges we face."

Preedy thanks staff and volunteers

Bulls Director Dave Preedy was delighted with how the move of Starlite Room catering equipment into the canteen facility in The New Market Development went today.

Cookers, freezers, prep tables and all the ancillary equipment was moved from the Edgar Street headquarters into the canteen by staff and volunteer helpers during a two-hour window.

On Monday the staff will return to prepare the new kitchen facility to provide breakfasts, lunches and snacks for the contractors staff from Tuesday morning for the duration of the building programme.

Around a hundred and fifty workers are currently employed in The Old Market site with many additions expected when specialist trades join as the work progresses.

Speaking after the operation, Preedy said "It's a great opportunity for The Football Club to cement its relationship with the project and we hope that even when the main building works are complete we can still provide nourishment for workers at our main facility at the ground".

"The staff and volunteers have turned up today and got the job done inside the time allowed.  The Football Club is extremely grateful to them for their efforts and it continues to show that with good support The Club will achieve its aims of producing off-field income to support Martin Foyle's efforts on the pitch."

Bowman Confims He's Signed For York

Ryan Bowman has told his Twitter followers he has signed for York.

The announcement from York yesterday noted the deal had only been agreed, but the striker told his followers: 'Signed for my new club York City. Can't wait to get started'

The fee is still to be agreed between the two clubs, with David Keyte telling the shareholders meeting on Wednesday that they had rejected all offers for the out of contract players so far as they weren't sufficient.

Evans Signs For Eastleigh

Released Bulls midfielder Will Evans has signed for Conf South side Eastleigh.

Manager Richard Hill spoke of the signing: "I first came across Will when I was involved with Swindon. He was in the Under 16 squad and I’ve followed his development throughout. This is the third time I have tried to sign Will at Eastleigh. The first time was on loan from Hereford last November and the second was when he went to Newport on loan.

"Will is a good young versatile player who will be an integral part of the Eastleigh squad."

Evans, 21, made only three starts and three sub appearances in the 22 games he was eligible for at Newport. He will join fellow ex-Bulls Chris Todd, Dean Beckwith, and Glen Southam at the ambitious side.

Club Looking For Accomodation For Trialists

The Bulls have put out a call for fans with spare rooms to get in touch as they look for accommodation for the myriad of trialists that will be at the club over the summer.

Boss Martin Foyle told the official site: "I'll be taking a look at a number of players throughout pre-season and we could be in need of providing accommodation, anything from one night to a couple of weeks. If anyone can offer help I'd appreciate them getting in touch."

Anyone with spare rooms can call the club (08442 761939) or email club@herefordunited.co.uk.

Meanwhile the club expects to release firm details on the debenture scheme and share issue next week.

Interest in the Supporters Trust has increased since Thursday's vote in favour of forming the organisation.

Gareth Davies speaks

A second meeting to bring the idea to the exiled Bulls in London is expected to take place within the next couple of weeks.

Anyone wishing to register their interest in joining the trust, or offering help, or wishing to attend the London meeting can email the organisers at hufctrust@gmail.com.

Bury Board Quits With Takeover Set

Bury's entire board has quit after announcing that a takeover of the club is to be completed.

The as-yet unnamed new owners are reported to have told manager Kevin Blackwell his job is safe ahead of completing the deal on Wednesday, at which point the outstanding tax bill, wages, and the PFA loans will be repaid in full.

Target Brodie Baulked At Distance

Bulls target Richard Brodie chose hometown club Gateshead over the Bulls due to the distance involved.

In an interview with Gateshead's official site, the striker confirmed he had trained with the Bulls but ruled them out despite the lure of working with Martin Foyle again:

"I trained with Hartlepool, Gateshead and Hereford, who are managed by my former York boss Martin Foyle, but Hereford is a fair old distance from the North East."

The full interview, where he says money was not the factor in his decision of where to go, is on the Gateshead site.

Supporters Trust Meeting Videos

The Supporters Trust videoed parts of the meeting last night.

These videos are becoming available on their YouTube channel through the course of the day. To view the videos go to:

York Boss Worthington On Bowman Deal

York boss Nigel Worthington has spoken to BBC York about the deal to take Ryan Bowman to Bootham Crescent:

"He's a good footballer and there's a lot of potential there.
He's young, fresh and he's full of enthusiasm.

"He's committed to the club and he's looking forward to working with us already. Things have got to be sorted out with the two clubs and that is ongoing.

"We want to try and aim for some stability and to do that you have to trust players and work with them. You have to give them a chance to get settled."

Bowman is reported to have agreed a two year deal with the Minstermen.

Bowman Heads For York

The following is from York City:

"York City Football Club is pleased to announce that the club have agreed personal terms with talented Hereford United forward Ryan Bowman.

Ryan, who was born in Carlisle and is 21 years old, was Hereford's top scorer last season with 19 goals from 43 appearances including a brace in the Bulls' spectacular 3-1 FA Cup victory over League 1 side Shrewsbury Town.

Ryan has also played for his home town club Carlisle United, where he began his professional career, and Darlington, where he made 40 appearances."

The Minstermen are yet to agree a fee with the Bulls, although talks are understood to be ongoing.

News Round-Up

Tamworth expect midfielder Marcus Kelly to leave the club, with manager Dale Belford admitting the two parties are 'miles apart' on a new contract after he saw travelling companions Adam Cunnington and Tommy Wright leave the club, leaving him with increased fuel bills. Michael Wylde and Peter Till are to also leave, while former Bull Sam Oji is one of four still in discussions.

Luton have released striker Dan Walker after three years at Kenilworth Road. The former Bedford Town forward, 23, netted five times in 36 games in total for the club. The Conference have produced a DVD of the goals of the season. Anyone wishing to buy a copy can email media@footballconference.co.uk with the price, inc P&P, of £9.50.

Welling have released striker Jon Main after he started just six games last season. The Wings have handed long serving utility man Loui Fazackerley a new one year deal. Barnet have finished installing seating in their new stadium at their Hive training ground. They expect work to complete the ground will continue through pre-season right up to the last minute.

Cambridge have signed released Gateshead striker Ryan Donaldson on a two year deal. The 22 year old had two spells with the Heed, scoring eight times in 39 games. Wycombe say they paid of their outstanding debt to the taxman thanks to supporter donations. Hundreds of fans are donating regular amounts to their Supporters Trust to keep the club running.

Tamworth have announced the signing of Barrow midfielder Richie Baker. The former Man Utd trainee, 25, has Football League experience with Oxford and Bury.

Supporters Trust Statement

We are delighted to announce that the Steering Group were last night given the mandate to form a Supporters Trust at Hereford United following an overwhelming vote in favour by a crowd of over 100 people. We can now look forward to building the Trust and helping our football club maintain sustainability.

It was great to see such a strong turn out of supporters who listened intently to presentations from Supporters Direct, trust members from Kidderminster and Newport and our our Steering Group. Ex-United player Gareth Davies proved a very popular, and passionate, contributor also. We are extremely grateful to all those who offered their time to be on the panel.

The hard work starts here.

We are very keen to hear from people interested in becoming a member of the Trust. Decisions will be made in due course about annual membership costs, but as we heard last night, it tends to be in the region of £5 -£10. Please log your interest in membership by email hufctrust@gmail.com

The next stage is to form a Working Group. For those not present last night, please email hufctrust@gmail.com if you feel you can offer your skills to the Working Group outlining what those skills/experiences are.

Once the Trust is properly registered with Supporters Direct we can look forward to a launch night, which we anticipate will be around the end of July.

Again, thank you for your support last night. Now we can move on and form the Trust with the help of Supporters Direct.

Jon Hale
On behalf of Hereford United Supporters Trust

Pritchard Speaks On New Stands

Bulls director Bob Pritchard has spoken to the official site about plans for two new stands at Edgar Street.

Proposals will see a 1,200 seated stand at the Blackfriars End, coupled with a commercial development, while a 2,000 capacity terrace is destined for the Meadow End, along with a residential complex.

Pritchard told the official site: "The club have received draft schemes for the stand at the Blackfriars End which includes a facility for a 1,200 capacity seating stand, with toilets, refreshment area bar and storage under. The stand will be attached to a commercial 4/5 storey property the full length of Blackfriars Street.

"The plans for the stand at the Meadow End will also include toilets, refreshment area, bar and storage area under with the residential opportunity behind which provides for a 4 storey apartment scheme with associated car parking, accessed from the new development to be undertaken within the Sanctuary Housing planning application."

Pritchard hopes that 'heads of terms' with developers can be agreed soon.

Council Cut Funding To Hereford Futures

Hard-pressed Herefordshire Council have decided to cut the funding to Hereford Futures, the company set up to ensure the ESG plans are carried out.

Changes are being made to the way Herefordshire Council supports economic development in Hereford. Council funding to Hereford Futures, the city development company which has successfully secured over £100M of investment in Hereford, is to be reduced. Revenue funding will be halved for the current financial year and the company’s Blackfriars Street offices will close by the end of June.

The Council will see through the remaining elements in the development programme, including the construction of the planned Link Road and Urban Village by using in-house expertise and resources. Jonathan Bretherton, CEO of Futures will remain through to next spring to oversee the completion of the Old Market scheme and support the council on various projects including the marketing of the Urban Village and the Link Road CPO.

Cllr Roger Phillips explained that the council hopes to retain the expertise and experience of the Hereford Futures board. He said:

“The Hereford Futures board has brought valuable commercial expertise into the county. In the latest budget round we have had to look very hard at all of our funding decisions. Though times are hard in terms of public funding, the council has made the creation of jobs and homes a priority. With the Old Market site secure and other key regeneration projects well under way, now is the right time to co-ordinate all the council’s regeneration work within the council.

Jonathan Bretherton said “securing the construction of the 310,000ft retail and leisure scheme with Stanhope and British Land is a major achievement of which all concerned can be very proud. I am confident that Hereford will enjoy continued success on the back of this investment.”

Hereford Futures is the successor company to ESG Herefordshire which was established in 2006 with a brief to regenerate 100 acres of central Hereford. The name of the company was changed to Hereford Futures in 2010 when the company’s remit was enlarged to encompass the whole of Hereford and its environs.

The company led the design, CPO and planning of an innovative Flood Alleviation Scheme which opened in April 2012, on budget and ahead of programme. The scheme has since saved an estimated £3M of flood damage to existing properties. The £4.5M construction cost was funded by Advantage West Midlands and protects over 100 existing homes, businesses and city infrastructure, including the A49 trunk road. The scheme has paved the way for a planned 800 home Urban Village and other commercial development.

Aldershot Set To Miss Deadline

Aldershot's Administrator expects to miss the deadline to get their CVA through before the Conference AGM.

The self-imposed June 1st deadline was set in order to avoid the tough rules on insolvency in the fifth tier. The Administrator expects to now miss the deadline, leaving the club at the threat of demotion at the end of the season, but remains 'optimistic of Conference football' being played by the club in the coming season.

A rescue bid by the Shots' Supporters Trust is still gathering pace, while the Administrator has given little detail on talks it has had with other 'genuine potential buyers'.

The local press claim that just two players were paid for April with club captain Ben Herd, one of those made redundant, telling Get Hampshire: “It’s difficult for us players to fathom just how we can be made redundant when there is a position in the squad which will be filled by someone else next season. It’s not like a normal 9-5 job.”

West Brom Added To Friendly List

The Bulls will play West Brom in a friendly at Edgar Street on July 20th.

Along with the other Saturday games scheduled so far, the match will kick off at 1pm.

News Round-Up

Chester have made their first three signings of the summer with the arrivals of midfielders Kevin McIntyre, Jason Jarrett, and Lee Pugh. McIntyre, 35, left the old Chester City in 2004, playing for the likes of Accrington and Macclesfield before a spell at Rochdale. Jarrett, 33, previously played for Wigan and Bury but ended the season at Welsh side Airbus. Pugh, 20, is a former Bury trainee who has been playing with Clitheroe. Striker Marc Williams is the latest to leave the club. The former Kidderminster forward netted 14 times in 37 games this season.

Bournemouth have reported a loss of £3.4million to the year ending May 2012. The club's auditors expressed concerns about the club as a going concern if their Russian backer withdrew. Chelmsford have named former Newport and Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth as their new boss. He won Conf South with the Exiles in 2010.

Bury have released 16 players and sold captain Stephen Schumacher to Fleetwood for an undisclosed fee. The moves leave the financially stricken side with just seven players. Halifax have lost the services of defender Liam Hogan after the 24 year old opted to join Fleetwood on a two year deal.

Barnet have released ten more players this week, taking the total to thirteen. Amongst those leaving are veteran keeper Michael Kuipers and former Scotland international Craig Beattie. Kidderminster midfielder Jamie Vincent is a target of SPL side Inverness. Despite being only 23, the Harriers would not be entitled to a fee for the out of contract player if he crossed the border.

Macclesfield have lost the services of midfielder Sam Wedgbury after he opted to sign for League One side Stevenage. The 24 year old was voted the Silkmen's Player of the Year. Salisbury have released six players, offered eight more new deals, while four others' futures are still in the balance. Among the six released is club veteran Robbie Matthews.

Southend have been issued another set of winding-up proceedings by the taxman. The move is their sixth in four years, with the other five all being settled ahead of time. Lincoln have signed Stockport midfielder Jon Nolan on contract for next season. The 21 year old has racked up 62 appearances for the Hatters over the last two seasons after leaving Everton's academy.

Coventry have announced plans to build "Highfield Road mk II" on land near the city. The local press say that moves have been made to groundshare at Walsall until the ground is built, with a petition led by the local paper already amassing 10,000 signatures calling for the club to stay at the Ricoh Arena. It is reported that Bridgnorth Town owe the taxman around £50,000, with total debts of £80,000 forcing the club into Administration.

Torquay forward Ryan Jarvis has agreed a deal with York after rejecting a new contract with the Gulls. Lincoln have signed released Burton striker Adi Yussuf on a one year deal. The former Leicester trainee started only three League games in two years with the Brewers, but had a loan spell with Tamworth previously.

Supporters Trust Meeting Tonight 7.30pm

With the Supporters Trust meeting at the Richmond Club tonight, starting at 7.30pm, spokesman Jon Hale spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester yesterday afternoon about the meeting.

He told presenter Andrew Easton: "The idea is that the supporters feel more involved in the decision making that goes on. In some cases, Trusts have had one or two members on the board of directors.

"It makes people feel they can ask questions of the club, get questions answered, and feel their involvement is more important to the club and to get the club to sustain itself over a long period of time.

"We all know there have been financial hardships at the club. We've had this 15 year cycle where the club has these crises where we all have to dig deep and put money in and keep the club going. Obviously this last year has been very difficult."

When asked about the basic problem being a lack of bodies through the turnstiles, he added: "If you can empower people to become more involved, by way of being a member of the Trust, those people instantly feel more connected to the club, more willing to go to games on a Saturday afternoon or a Tuesday night.

"It's a way we can get attendance figures up, get interest going again. There's a lot of people around the world that support Hereford United and the Trust can be a platform to bring those people together to the benefit of the supporters and the football club."

Proposals Well Received Said Keyte

Hereford United chairman David Keyte thought that the financial proposals put forward at this evening's shareholders meeting had been well received.

"I thought it was a very positive meeting, "Keyte told BN.

"I think the proposals seemed to be very well received and we look forward to pushing on with it now.

"One proposal is we would like to issue shares, create a new shares issue.

"We have been a bit ham-strung with 40,000 shares over the years and when talking to possible new investors we've struggled to give something obvious in return so we've proposed that we will try to raise £1.5M through £1 shares for a range of projects including development of the stadium, improving facilities and also the training facilities.

"We've also discussed the possibility of the fairly substantial loans that are now backing the club, to give those loanees an option of to convert into shares which will improve our balance sheet and debt."

Asked if the chairman would take the lead and convert some of his substantial loans to the club into shares, he said he would.

"I'd have no qualms with the first £100K," said Keyte.

Keyte then referred to the deals done with the Richardsons to get back the leases of Edgar Street.

"Graham Turner had got a scheme drawn up and approved by the local planners and that was left with us when Tim Russon and I came on-board.

"When we went to the Richardsons they said they had never given permission for that and nor would they until we had agreed something on the leases.

"So that emphasised the need for us to directly get hold of the leases again, which we did in November 2010.

"We are now getting close to moving these projects forward."

Keyte and his board will need to get as much publicity as possible for their plans.

"The key is to get a very positive message out to the 1500 supporters who come to watch us and also the 5000 or so who can't come to games that often but are still genuine Hereford United supporters.

"This may be quite an attractive proposition to people perhaps located in London or away from here who can't make the matches but are keen to help."

Plans To Make Bulls Financially Stable

Plans were revealed to try and make Hereford United financially stable at this evening's meeting of shareholders at the Starlite Rooms.

Below is a short summary of what was said.

David Keyte chaired the meeting and started off by telling shareholders that the club expected to make a loss of around £440K in the year ending May 31st 2013. Next season the club could loss £375K unless steps are taken to reduce the playing budget even more which Keyte was unwilling to do.

"There has to be a radical change of thinking," said Keyte.

"The aim is promotion which on its own would increase income by £800k per season."

Keyte then introduced Stuart Blake who gave the directors, Martin Foyle, Andy Porter, several staff and the 27 shareholders present a presentation as to what was being proposed.

The aim, he said, was to look for investment to improve the leisure facilities, continue discussions with potential investors and expand the share base of the club.

A) Where We Are Today:

Short term cash issue,  opportunity to 'join' the ESG, £750K loans to the club by board members.

B) Future Development:

Hotel with Gym and Retail at the Blackfriars End of the ground, Residential at the Meadow End.

C) The Share Issue.

The aim is to raise upto £1.5M. If this could be done £300K would be spent on the Meadow End, £400K on the Blackfriars End and £400 on Aylestone Park for new training facilities.

Directors were considering converting some of their loans into shares.

It's hoped the new share scheme will be up and running by July 1st

D) Income/Sales

It was hoped that the 'sale' of the land  behind the Meadow End could bring in £500K and the land behind the Blackfriars End also £500K. Profit from the Starlite Rooms could reach £100K and the debenture scheme might bring in £350K.

The aim is to be much less reliant on gate money.

E) Supporting the manager ( Martin Foyle)

The aim is to return to the Football League, maximise player sales, attract better players, benefit from a stronger youth policy, and increase the gates to 2,500.

F) The Debenture Sale

The aim is to set up a '1939 Executive Club' which would operate over and above the current Vice-Presidents Club.

Cost would be £4750 for five years.

Keyte then asked for questions.

The position with the leases of the ground was mentioned. Heads of terms have been agreed with the Council and a final meeting was due shortly.

Some more details about the new shares emerged. It was expected they would sell at £1 each with a minimum of 500 for a shareholder to have a vote. The issue would not be under-written.

Costs at the club are still being reduced, the playing budget is 18% down, last season one player was paid £72K.

Around 30 people were thought likely to buy a debenture when released with hopefully more later. Keyte would like Edgar Street to become the 'place to be seen'.

866 season tickets sold to date.

Director Bob Pritchard said that with the ESG development and the expansion at Rotherwas, new businesses were coming to the area and the club should aim to market itself to those businesses and the families who are moving into the area.

The £100K council bond was raised by a shareholder who produced paperwork to prove that the council should know about the bond.

The club will pay some more PAYE tomorrow, however the club is currently short of about £60k to cover its bills to the end of June.

Discussions are on-going with Cargill to continue their sponsorship.

Shareholders Meeting This Evening

Just a quick reminder that there will be a special meeting of Hereford United shareholders this evening.

News Round-Up

Hyde striker Phil Jevons has signed for Stockport. The 33 year old scored 15 times in 35 games this season and was understood to have been offered a new deal by Hyde. Bridgnorth Town are the latest side to enter Administration. The club say the cash injection is non-refundable in the event of the deal collapsing.

Barnet have announced that Edgar Davids will remain as their head coach for the coming season. The Dutch legend had protracted talks over his future but finally committed to the Bees today. Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite says the club budgeted to lose £500,000 this season. The Valiants exited Administration only six months ago.

Torquay Considering Friendly At Hereford

Press reports in the South West are suggesting that Torquay manager Alan Knill is 'considering' bringing his side to Edgar Street for a pre-season friendly against Hereford United.

To date Bulls' manager Martin Foyle is yet to confirm any friendlies although it is expected there will be 'games' against several local sides including Westfields.

Pitch re-seeding underway

Contractors Clive Richardson Ltd were today putting the final touches to this season’s Edgar Street pitch renovations.

With the drainage system now fully installed, the top surface has been properly prepared and is being re-seeded using the same Barenbrug seed that is used at top stadiums like World Cup venues and Premier League grounds like Old Trafford.

A spokesman observed that the old drains installed some twenty-five years ago were too few and blocked with silt and fibre growth making them totally ineffective.

Richardsons will return in about a month to apply a final top dressing of slitted sand.  Meanwhile they have been persuaded to undertake some additional work to the training pitch area that it is believed will come as "part of the deal".
